THE AREA
Barbados may seem far-flung -- it is the easternmost island in the Caribbean
-- yet it offers some of the Caribbean's best beaches, resorts, and
nightlife. This friendly and prosperous island is one of those rare
places where you really can do it all. When you want peace and quiet,
there are secluded white sand beaches, country roads that wind through
tropical forests and fields of sugar cane, and even a national park.
When you want more hustle and bustle, the capital, Bridgetown, offers
plenty of restaurants and nightlife. As you explore the island, you
will notice some beautifully preserved 18th- and 19th-century buildings,
including plantation houses that date back to colonial days. Glimpses
of the island's British heritage are apparent everywhere, from Bridgetown's
Trafalgar Square to the very popular national sport -- cricket! Most
of our properties are located on the west coast, where you will find
the best beaches, plus tennis and golf at world-class resorts.
THE PROPERTY
Our properties on Barbados include some of our finest homes in the Caribbean.
These beautifully designed and furnished villas are in outstanding locations,
on coral cliffs overlooking the sea and beach, or directly on the beach,
just steps from the water. Many properties enjoy magnificent views of
the sea and the spectacular Caribbean sunsets. Some villas are built
in the style of classic West Indian plantation homes, while others feature
contemporary architecture and spacious, modern interiors. Both older
and newer villas often use the distinctive local coral stone in their
walls and terraces. Private pools are featured more often than not.
Barbados also offers an unusually good selection of villas with household
staff (often difficult to find on other islands); nearly all our homes
include the services of a maid, cook, laundress, and gardener. If you
prefer an apartment, ours are self-contained, with private entrances
and staff, and offer virtually the same feeling as a villa. This is

INTERIORS
Villas and apartments include 2-8 bedrooms, 2-8 bathrooms, living room,
dining area, fully equipped kitchen, and terraces. The typical home
is tastefully furnished in contemporary style; a few outstanding properties
offer especially luxurious interiors. Nearly all offer amenities such
as telephone, color TV, dishwasher, laundry facilities, and air-conditioned
bedrooms.
