AREA The Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica offers a spectacular coastline that includes unspoiled sandy beaches and lush tropical jungle. Although remote from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world, the peninsula offers outstanding resort and recreational facilities. Costa Rica itself has become a world leader in ecological travel, and visitors enjoy unusual opportunities to experience first-hand the wonders of its protected tropical environments. THE PROPERTIES The Tambor Villas & Cottages are situated at the southern end of the Nicoya Peninsula, a short flight from the capital city of San Jose. These attractive, modern villas and a group of cabana-style thatched-roof cottages face the Pacific. Nearly all of the properties are beachfront, and all are just a short walk from a spectacular 40-foot waterfall that plunges into a clear tidal pool. Some villas offer special features, such as a jacuzzi or even a putting green or a small basketball court. The resort offers almost unlimited recreation, including a 10-hole oceanfront golf course, horseback riding, tennis and volleyball. Watersports enthusiasts will enjoy scuba diving and snorkeling on the reef just off the beach, or swimming in the natural mineral spring pool. Unique to Costa Rica are the opportunities for birdwatching, naturalist-led tours to the nearby national parks, and (in season) night-time visits to observe sea turtles laying their eggs. INTERIORS Cabana-style cottages include double bed, bathroom, living/dining area and fully equipped kitchenette. The cottages also offer either bunk beds or an additional single bedroom. Two and three bedroom villas comprise bedrooms, bathroom, living room, dining area and fully equipped kitchenette. All properties offer satellite TV and simple, pleasant furnishings.
