THE AREA
While Belize and Costa Rica receive increasing numbers of ecotourists, Panama remains virtually undiscovered. Most famous for the Panama Canal, this Central American country lies between Costa Rica and Colombia, and offers many areas of spectacular natural beauty. The country's rainforests shelter an abundance of tropical flora and fauna. In most towns and villages, you will find markets for traditional handicrafts, and many small restaurants where you can sample the local cuisine, such as delicious seafood and fresh tropical fruits. During your stay, you should not miss one of the regularly scheduled boat trips on the Canal, a partial transit that includes going through one of the locks.

THE PROPERTIES
The resort area of Coronado Beach is on the Pacific, just over an hour's drive west of the capital, Panama City. It is an additional 30-40 minutes to the international airport east of the city, and car rental or airport pick-up can easily be arranged. Each 3-bedroom villa is furnished in comfortable, contemporary style, and the bedrooms are air-conditioned.
