THE AREA
Known as the city of a thousand spires, Prague is one of the most beautiful
cities in Europe. Its architecture spans the ages, from the Gothic St.
Vitus Cathedral to graceful Art Nouveau buildings and eye-catching 20th-century
designs. Dominating the skyline is Prague Castle, an enormous complex
on the west side of the River Vltava (also known as the Moldau).
Since the "Velvet
Revolution" of 1989, the capital of the Czech Republic has become
a mecca for artists and expatriates. Today it is one of Europe's most
exciting cities, offering outstanding classical music concerts, experimental
theater, and many new art galleries. Dining out is a genuine bargain,
with many good, inexpensive restaurants offering traditional Czech dishes.
Best of all, the compact city center is easy to explore on foot, from
the Hradcany district (around the castle), across the river to the Old
Town and Wenceslas Square-with beautiful medieval buildings wherever
you look.
THE PROPERTIES
We offer two types of apartments in Prague, ranging in size from studios
to 3 bedrooms. Our private apartments are scattered throughout several
neighborhoods near the Old Town, within walking distance of Prague Castle
and most other sights of the city center. The apartments are decorated
in typical Czech style, with comfortable (though usually not luxurious)
furnishings; some are in lovely older buildings. These private apartments
can be an excellent value, and are ideal for visitors who want an insider's
view of the city.
We also feature
apartments in fully equipped residences, centrally located or just a
short distance from the city center. Your choices include residences
in the Hradcany district or within a 5-10 minute walk of Wenceslas Square.
These residences tend to be more upscale, with attractive modern furnishings;
they usually offer reception desks and a wide range of services.
INTERIORS
Apartments include 1-3 bedroom(s), 1-2 bathroom(s), living room, dining
area, and fully equipped kitchen. Studio apartments are also available.
Furnishings and decor vary-some are simply furnished, others offer amenities
such as dishwashers, washing machines, sofabeds or extra beds.
