THE AREA
The countries of Eastern Europe are attracting more and more visitors, and with the new political and cultural openness comes the possibility of vacation rentals in countries such as Hungary. A popular place for Hungarians themselves to have weekend homes is the 18th-century city of Szentendre ("St. Andrew" in English), located just over 12 miles to the north of Budapest, the capital of Hungary and a metropolis of two million residents. Szentendre is a charming small city of 20,000, set on the banks of the Danube River. This area offers lots of opportunities for outdoor recreation, including hiking in the Pilis Mountains and day trips to other small villages farther north along the river. The city is renowned as an artists' colony, with museums, galleries and performances that attract visitors from all over. Szentendre, which dates back to Roman times, is also home to some lovely Baroque churches and many well-preserved 19th-century homes and shops in the historic city center. Day trips to Budapest are easy to arrange, as it is only a 20-minute drive or 40-minute train trip away.

THE PROPERTIES
Built in 1997, the Bochary Villa offers all modern comforts and conveniences and a quiet, private location in the foothills outside Szentendre. With very affordable rates, this property also offers excellent value for money. This two-story villa is built in traditional style and features a spacious garden, a garage, and a gated driveway. The villa looks toward the Danube River, just 200 yards away. Boating, fishing, swimming, and tennis are available in the vicinity, and shops and restaurants are close by, as well. There is a bus stop 100 yards from the house, and if you choose not to rent a car, there is convenient bus, local train, and boat service to Budapest.

INTERIORS
The Bochary Villa includes 3 bedrooms (2 double, 1 twin), 2 bathrooms, an open-plan living/dining area furnished with solid oak furniture from Holland, and a fully equipped, very modern Italian kitchen. The villa offers TV, stereo, washer/dryer, microwave oven, and two fold-up beds.
