THE AREAS
Have you ever admired the stately country houses featured in so many British films and television series? Experience for yourself the history and tradition of this privileged way of life in one of our private country houses. We offer a wide range of properties across England, Scotland, and Wales - from spacious, comfortable country houses to historic castles and the kind of grand mansion made famous by Brideshead Revisited. A few beautifully converted farmhouses and cottages are available, as well. You will find the greatest choice of houses within a hour or two of London - west to Oxford and the cotswolds, or south to Sussex and Ken. Some homes are even closer to the city. In the West of England, Cornwall and Devon offer somebeautiful manor houses in picturesque, less travelled areas. Castles are most plentiful in the Scottish Highlands, with a few also available in outlying parts of England and Wales. The Highlands are especially recommended for the traditional aristocratic pursuits of fishing, shooting, and golf.

THE PROPERTIES
Most of our country houses date back to the 17th, 18th, or 19th centuries. They range from three to six bedrooms or more, and tend to be very comfortably and tastefully furnished in elegant country house style. Fireplaces, beamed ceilings, and attractive exterior stonework are common features, as are beautiful country gardens filled with flowers. The grandest mansions are sumptuous indeed, with antique furnishings and ancestral portraits to evoke the atmosphere of bygone days. A few choice locations offer a heated pool, tennis court, or croquet lawn, and many enjoy panoramic views across the countryside. Houses are frequently provided with staff, and a private cook can often be arranged.

INTERIORS
The typical country house includes 3-6 bedrooms up to 6 bathrooms, living room, dining foom, and fully equipped kitchen, plus one or more additional areas, such as an entrance hall, library, drawing room or sitting room. You will frequently find amenities such as TV, VCR, microwave oven, dishwasher and washer / dryer.

One-week minimum stay (usually Sat. - Sat.). Reduced rates may be available for longer stays or during off season. Refundable security deposit required. Heating charges may not be included. Staff is often available and sometimes included.
