FARINGDON
HOUSE
The
Cotswolds & Oxfordshire
for
up to 11-13
Faringdon
House is one of the premier jewels in the crown of Oxfordshire.
Perched on a hillside above the medieval market square of Faringdon,
the setting is grand. The entrance overlooks extensive manicured
lawns, undulating hillsides, and woods which surround a lake.
Built in 1770 by Henry James Pye, England's Poet Laureate, Faringdon
House has been the home of eccentrics for more than two centuries.
Guests at this lovely 6 bedroom, 5 bathroom house can enjoy its
superb appointments, including a large drawing room and an unusual
"flying staircase," two flights of stairs that meet
to form a bridge. Three of the six bedrooms are single rooms.
The grounds also feature a heated
swimming pool
and numerous other enticements. Nearby are the towns of Burford,
the "Gateway to the Cotswolds," and, of course, Oxford,
only 12 miles away from Faringdon House.
