THE AREA
The rugged mountains, scenic coastline, villages and farms of Wales are only a few hours from London by car or high-speed rail, yet this fascinating country has preserved its rural character. The distinctive   Welsh language and culture still thrive-Welsh is spoken by many, and you will see both Welsh and English on road signs. National song and poetry festivals (eisteddfods) are major events, and you may wish to time your visit to coincide with one of them.

Wales is home to some famous, picturesque sights-including the castles at Harlech and Caernarvon and the ruins of Tintern Abbey. And when it comes to the outdoors, there are few better destinations in Britain for avid hikers and climbers. You can take in the views from the coastal path that runs for 180 miles along the Pembrokeshire Coast, in the west; or explore the peaks of Snowdonia in the north. In fact, Mount Snowdon is the highest peak in England or Wales at 3560 feet, and the terrain offers everything from pleasant walks to strenuous climbs.

PROPERTIES

Among your choices are the popular resort areas of the north coast, including the island of Anglesey and the picturesque village of Portmeirion. We also feature a good selection of hill cottages and farmhouses in Snowdonia, and in the tranquil valleys of the Usk, Severn and Wye Rivers near the Welsh/English border. If you prefer a smaller property, apartments are available in attractively subdivided farmhouses. Most homes are furnished in relatively simple, rustic, yet comfortable style. We do offer a small number of upscale properties in Wales, such as manor houses and country estates.
