The setting: a renovated villa just outside the picturesque village of Orta San Giulio, on the eastern shores of the lake. The villa includes just five other apartments; ours is on the second floor and features a balcony overlooking the lake. You also have access to the villa's lakefront garden. The apartment is within walking distance of Orta's main piazza, where you will find pleasant cafes and a 16th-century town hall. This area is a charming alternative to the better-known and busier Lake Maggiore, which is 12 miles to the east. The apartment offers 2 bedrooms (can be used as double or twin), 2 bathrooms, living/dining room with single sofabed, and fully equipped kitchen. An extra bed is available at additional charge. Central heating, TV, dishwasher, crib. Shared laundry facilities. Loading zone in front of the property; free parking about a half-mile away. TERRAZZA APARTMENT   for 2-3 + baby Orta San Giulio This spacious studio apartment is right in the village of Orta San Giulio, one of the hidden jewels of the Italian Lake District. The apartment is on the third (top) floor of an old palazzo, tucked away behind Orta's main piazza-a delightful walk via steps and alleyways. A small bar is below the apartment, at street level. Tastefully designed, the studio features a fireplace, modern furnishings, and a private rooftop terrace (no view of the lake). A wonderful destination in itself, Orta San Giulio is also an excellent base for day trips to Lake Maggiore and the elegant resort of Stresa, only 12 miles to the east. You can even drive down to Milan (about 45 miles), a shopper's mecca where you will find the best in Italian fashion. The apartment offers a double bed in a sleeping area defined by a glass and brick room divider, a large living/dining area, bathroom, and small but fully equipped kitchenette.
