THE
AREA
Vibrant, cosmopolitan Barcelona is the capital of Spain's Catalonia
region, where the Catalan language is spoken alongside Spanish and a
distinctive culture thrives. There is something here for every visitor,
including well-preserved medieval architecture; diverse museums, galleries,
and theaters; and, of course, wonderful restaurants and nightlife.
To the north of the medieval Gothic Quarter, you will find the Eixample
district, an area of wide, tree-lined streets laid out in the 19th century.
The Eixample (Catalan for "Extension") includes the city's
main business district, with hotels, restaurants, shopping areas, and
affluent residential areas. Alongside the typical 19th-century buildings,
you will find the soaring spires of Gaudí's masterpiece, the Templo
de la Sagrada Familia, and other architectural fantasies-buildings unlike
any others in the world. Indeed, ever since Gaudí, Barcelona has
had a reputation for forward-looking art and design.
THE PROPERTIES

find, since apartments so centrally located are not easy to find in
Barcelona. Choose from two very attractive, modern residences, each
about 10-15 minutes' walk from the Plaça de Catalunya, the city's
main square.
At the

Urgell,
choose from spacious one-bedroom apartments in an upscale setting, with
satellite TV and stylish contemporary furnishings.
At the Residence
Miro,
you will find comfortable studio apartments, a little more simply furnished
than Urgell and an excellent value.
Both buildings offer reception desks, air conditioning, parking facilities,
and other useful hotel-type services. Transportation is convenient from
either residence, with bus and underground stations just a block or
two away.

Studios include
a living/sleeping area, bathroom, and fully equipped kitchen/dining
area. Apartments include 1 bedroom, bathroom, living room, and fully
equipped kitchen/dining area. All apartments are furnished in contemporary
style and offer telephone, TV, and air conditioning. Additional bed
available in some apartments.
