THE AREA
The attractive resort of El Capistrano Village is beautifully situated between the Sierra Nevada mountains and the sea, at the eastern end of the Costa del Sol (about 35 miles from Málaga and its airport). Built in traditional Andalucian style, with narrow streets and whitewashed houses adorned with tile roofs and wrought iron work, El Capistrano Village captures the charm and flavor of an old Spanish village. The apartments and villas are situated on beautifully landscaped grounds, with native palm trees and an abundance of tropical flowers. The properties feature shared swimming pools, and most are just a 10 -15 minute walk from the beach. El Capistrano Village also offers shops, restaurants, tennis courts, and a heated indoor pool for winter visitors. (Similar apartments and villas are available in three other resorts close to El Capistrano Village.) About a mile away, the pretty fishing village of Nerja offers a glimpse of old Spain with its tapas bars and cobbled streets. And this area of Spain offers wonderful possibilities for day trips; just over an hour's drive away is the historic city of Granada, dominated by the palaces and towers of the legendary Alhambra.
