THE AREA
The Costa del Sol is known for its exclusive nightclubs and fine restaurants in luxurious surroundings. Stretching from west of Malaga and its airport, down to the southern tip of Spain at Gibraltar, the western Costa del Sol offers internationally known resorts, plus the simple pleasures of a perfect Mediterranean climate, a shining sea, and miles of sandy beaches.

At the heart of this area are the resort of Marbella and the yacht harbor of Puerto Banus. Five minutes apart, these bastions of luxury offer fine restaurants, plus nightlife that keeps going until dawn. The consistently sunny days are perfect for enjoying the well-equipped beach clubs and professional-level golf, tennis, and equestrian clubs. This is also a good area for day trips, inland to the white villages of Andalusia, the beautiful old town of Ronda, or-for a more exotic adventure-a trip across the Straits to Morocco.

Some of our homes here are set in well-designed, modern communities, which offer communal pools and sometimes tennis or golf. Many other homes are set on the outskirts of an old town or village, where a resort has grown up around the narrow, winding streets of the original Moorish quarter.

Choose from attractive villas, low-rise townhouses, and apartments, and some luxury villas that are among the best in Europe. West of Marbella, we feature homes in and around Puerto Banus, Nueva Andalucia, and Sotogrande, close to beaches and world-class golf. Also west of Marbella, we offer homes in the attractive seaside resorts of San Pedro and Estepona.

At the eastern end of Marbella, we feature attractive villas in El Rosario, a hillside enclave 5-10 minutes' walk from the beach. A little farther east, you will find villas and apartments in the resorts of Fuengirola and Mijas Costa, and the inland village of Mijas. And in Torremolinos, west of Malaga, we offer popular, well-priced apartments, many in high-rise buildings.

Larger villas usually feature pools, while smaller villas and apartments offer private or shared pools.
