THE AREA
South of Lucerne and nearly halfway to the resort of Interlaken is the
village of Stalden. This tranquil village is set in the heart of Switzerland,
and offers an ideal base for exploring this landscape of dramatic glaciers,
waterfalls, and ravines, quiet mountain lakes and pastoral valleys.
Hiking paths are plentiful, and cable cars and mountain railways ascend
to dozens of villages and peaks -- including the famous Jungfrau. For
a change of pace, why not a day trip to enjoy the shops and restaurants
of cosmopolitan Lucerne?
THE PROPERTIES
Chalet Stalden
is set in a secluded location with no through traffic, a 5-10 minute
drive from Stalden, and 10-15 minutes from the larger town of Sarnen,
the capital of the Canton of Obwalden. The chalet offers a terrace facing
south and west, and enjoys spectacular views of the Bernese Alps and
the lakes of Sarnen and Lungern. With wood panelling and a fireplace
for cooler evenings, the chalet provides a comfortable base for your
excursions throughout this lovely part of Switzerland. There is regular
bus service between Stalden and the train station in Sarnen, and travellers
using rail passes will find Stalden a central location for connections
throughout the country.
INTERIORS
Three bedrooms
(two twin, one with four bunkbeds and a child's cot), bathroom, living
room (w/fireplace), dining area and fully equipped kitchen. The chalet
offers simple but comfortable alpine-style furnishings, plus television.
There is also a garage.
