WHAT IS A CATERED
CHALET?
We are pleased to introduce this popular European concept to the American
market. Suitable for groups large or small, a chalet party is a fully
catered vacation rental at a European ski resort -- with meals and wine
included. Typically, a large group will rent an entire chalet for their
exclusive use. You will be looked after by your chalet host, a trained
cook who will prepare 3-4 course meals to first-class standards. Breakfast,
a packed lunch, six dinners a week (including wine), and occasionally
afternoon tea are all included. Smaller groups can share a chalet with
other guests and enjoy the same meals and wine -- an excellent way to
meet fellow skiers and make new, international friends.
WHY SHOULD YOU
CHOOSE A CATERED CHALET?
is very difficult to rent a chalet or apartment of four bedrooms or
larger -- unless you arrange a chalet party. Larger property rentals
at European ski resorts are scarce! And considering the high cost of
restaurants at European ski resorts, catered chalet parties are quite
affordable and offer an excellent value. Not only are meals and wine
included, you will also enjoy a high level of service, with a friendly
host to provide housekeeping services and advise you on things to see
and do. Chef, meals and services are not included in regular chalet
rentals -- only in chalet parties! Some chalets also offer ski guides
to give general advice and introduce you to the local ski runs.
LOCATIONS
Catered chalet parties are available at many ski resorts in Switzerland,
France, Austria and Italy. Locations include Zermatt, Gstaad, Verbier
and Wengen in Switzerland; in France, Chamonix and Val d'Isére,
and Courchevel and Méribel in the Trois Vallées area;
Courmayeur in Italy; Lech, St. Anton and Kitzbühel in Austria ...
and many other resorts.
INTERIORS
The typical chalet offers 4-8 bedrooms, although some are larger (for
up to 20 people) and a few are smaller. Depending on the size of your
group, you may occupy an entire chalet, or a private apartment on one
floor of a chalet. Furnishings usually reflect traditional alpine style,
with details such as wood panelling, and most properties offer a fireplace
for convivial evening gatherings. Bedrooms may be small by American
standards, but will be comfortable and well maintained.
