Burgundy's reputation for its wine is matched by the regions reputation for gastronomy and traditional cuisine. The countryside is a mixture of rolling hills, criss-crossed with vineyards, forests, rivers and lakes. The cottage's villa is just one of the charming medieval villages scattered throughout the region, and both the house and cottage provide an ideal holiday base for exploring Burgundy.

Visit the famous Chablis vineyards and Tonnerre vineyards just 20 minutes drive. Taste some of the famous Chablis grand crus, i.e. Blanchot, Grenouille, Fourchaume.
The Wine Cote of Beaune is probably the most famous vineyard in the world and is just 1hr and 15minutes drive. Signs bearing a bunch of grapes will guide you through the 13 villages and towns which are flood-lit at night. Don't forget to make the vital stops in the wine tasting cellars and perhaps buy a bottle or two to take home, i.e. Pommard, Gevrey Chambertin, Volnay.
The area has a rich historic and architectural inheritance, you will pass through typical market towns on your way to famous Chateaux and Abbeys, ie. Chateau d'Ancy le Franc 5 minutes drive away, is among the most beautiful residences of the renaissance period in Burgundy. Chateau de Tanlay 10 minutes away is famous for its gallery in trompe l'oeil.

Noyers belongs to the closed club the 'Plus beaux village de France' (the most beautiful village in France). The Prieure De Vausse, a Cistercian Priory built at the beginning of the 13th century, 10 minutes drive away.

The cities of Dijon and Troyes and Auxerre are noted for their historical and architectural interest and have beautiful shops, cafes and restaurants. All within one hours drive. Visit Paris or Eurodisney by car - over 2 hours drive, or relax and take the TGV (high speed train) from Montbard direct to Eurodisney one hour 5 minutes.

Don't forget the tantalising delicacies - Epoisses cheese, Flavignys aniseed balls and Dijon's mustard and gingerbread - even a saint would be tempted! You will find clear and lazy streaming water throughout the countryside where you can have a picnic or perhaps go fishing, take your pick, nature will make you forget all your worries.
