The Aquitain region and the Basque country
The city of Biarritz is located within the beautiful Aquitaine region : 2 hours south of Bordeaux (wine) 1 hour south of the Landes country (Corridas, foie gras) 1 hour north of Bilbao (Spain, Guggenheim Museum). Between the Atlantic ocean and the Pyrenées mountains, Biarritz is in the very typical Basque country. The Basque culture is unique and fascinating through deep-rooted popular tradition : a very living language, singing and dancing, enthusiastic sports like Rugby, Pelote basque and Force basque.
The city of Biarritz
Originally a small whale fishing village, Biarritz became a famous resort in the 19th century thanks to Emperor Napoleon III and his spanish wife Eugénie. Since, used to welcome prestigious visitors, Biarritz has continued to built its reputation by offering a large scale of water and mountain activities, golf as well as evening entertainments.
The house: Spread over three floors, the house is a charming blend of traditional Basque features and a contemporary interior design. The spacious first floor is open plan with a dining room, fully equipped stylish kitchen, billard room and table football room. There is also a shower room with WC. A wooden staircase leads to the second floor with a large living room which benefits from a double balcony with sea views and plenty of space for sitting out. The master bedroom has an antique oak double bed and a large en-suite bathroom with WC and a series of wardrobes. On the third foor, there are three more double size bedrooms, two of which have views over the ocean. One of the bedroom has an en-suite shower room. There is also a separate bathroom and WC. A small courtyard in front of the house can be used for drinks and dining in the summer.
