This attractive apartment is part of a classic Provençal property that dates back to the 16th
century. Once a tiny hamlet, high on a hill in what is now the Haute-Provence
National Park—inland and northwest of the Côte d'Azur—this cluster of buildings was
renovated as holiday homes in 2003. (There is also a bed-and-breakfast at this location.)
The property includes a large shared swimming pool, available from June to
September. This is a very quiet setting above the valley of the River Bleone, with
panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. From the garden and the pool
area, you can see the snowcapped peaks of the Southern Alps, the lavender fields of the
Plateau de Valensole, and the city of Digne 6 miles away. The apartment itself
offers a fabulous view of the old Roman church. Many walking trails are within 10 miles.
The Haute-Provence, east of the Lubéron, is well known for its sunny climate
and clear skies. Verdon Canyon and Sainte-Croix Lake are about 40 miles away. And
within 30 miles are a number of Provençal villages and markets, perfect for easy day trips.
This is a wonderful place to get away from it all, to be in Provence yet off the beaten
The apartment comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living/dining room
with sofabed (for one extra person), and fully equipped kitchen. A delightful private
garden within the walls of the ruins is for the exclusive use of guests staying in the
apartment. There is also a boules court on the grounds. Linen extra. Evening meals may
be available on request.
