La Ferme Auxois is a traditional stone-built farmstead dating from the early 19th century. It is located just outside the hilltop hamlet of Villars, only five minutes drive from Semur-en-Auxois, the capital of the Auxois area. The farmstead is surrounded by a paddock of five acres (two hectares) and stands on the crest of a ridge with views in all directions of unspoilt countryside. The property consists of two independent buildings: The farmhouse sits within its own garden, overlooking the courtyard with pastoral scenery to the front and back. It is ideal for six guests: it has three double bedrooms, one of which also has an additional single bed. A fourth bedroom, containing a pair of single beds, is available for a supplement. The hallway leads into a very large living / dining room which has the original flagstone floor, a stone fireplace, and a wood-burning stove. The room is furnished with a sofa and a set of comfortable armchairs, with a stereo, a TV with satellite channels, and a DVD player for relaxation. A monastic dining table seats up to twelve. French windows lead onto the front garden, which has a barbecue and a shaded outdoor dining table. On the other side of the room, large windows and French doors overlook the courtyard and surrounding countryside. The farmhouse's dining-living room The spacious kitchen also has a traditional quarry-tiled floor and wood-beamed ceilings. A second dining table seats up to eight. The kitchen is fully equipped, with an American-style fridge-freezer with an ice-maker, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a stove. Also on the ground floor is a shower room with a toilet, a washing machine and dryer, and an ironing board and steam iron. A water softening unit and filters ensure a good supply of drinking water. On of the double bedrooms From the hallway, an oak staircase leads upstairs. A large book-lined corridor opens onto the three bedrooms. Each bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite shower room with a toilet and washbasin. One of the bedrooms also has an additional single bed. An optional fourth bedroom is available at an extra cost; it has a pair of twin beds.
