Villa Dolkan is situated in a quiet location overlooking the picturesque town of
Kalkan on Turkey's gorgeous Mediterranean Coast. This beautiful, modern 2-
bedroom villa is ideally situated within easy reach of the region's many historical
sites and areas of natural beauty. The property features sea views and an
attractive private pool. The historic town of Kalkan was once a simple
Turkish/Greek fishing village. Today, it is quietly sophisticated and postcard-pretty,
with a multitude of excellent rooftop restaurants and a good selection of stylish and
atmospheric blues and jazz bars.
Unlike some other Turkish coastal
resorts, Kalkan's main economy derives from tourism; consequently, its inhabitants
put much effort and pride into the town's historic preservation. As a result, Kalkan
has retained its charm and special ambience. The village shops stay open until
around midnight and are well stocked with interesting antiques, crafts, jewelry,
carpets, and clothing. The narrow streets of the old town are lined with whitewashed
shuttered buildings festooned with brightly colored bougainvillea. These
streets twist down to the harbor, the focus of the village. During the day, you can
make use of one of the many "beach clubs," visit the local market (held on
Thursdays), enjoy outdoor recreation (such as waterskiing, parascending, scuba
diving, trekking, etc.), take a trip to one of the local historical sites, cruise on a
gulet, or simply relax by your pool.
The villa is air-conditioned
and very nicely furnished. It accommodates a maximum of 8 guests and includes 2
double bedrooms (extra beds can be added, suitable for children), 2 bath/shower
rooms + separate WC, living area (with two sofa/daybeds, suitable for children),
dining area, fully equipped kitchen, and terraces/balconies with outdoor dining area
and barbecue. Parking space. Other amenities: CD player, microwave, dishwasher,
washing machine.
Services include welcome pack on arrival; maid service
(daily light cleaning, twice weekly linen change and full cleaning); local English
management agent; use of facilities at the Asfiya Hotel and Yali Beach Club. Taxis
and dolmus (local bus) are readily available. Kalkan is a two-hour drive from
Dalaman Airport; transfers can be arranged if required. Monday-Monday stays are
preferred.
Please note: Owing to the location of the villa, we feel that it
would not be particularly suitable for the elderly or the infirm. In addition, a car
would be useful as it is about 30 minutes' walk into the village center. Local car rental
is available (insurance included) by arrangement.
