Casamicciola is one of the few holiday areas in the mediterranean that has always been considered ideal for reinvigorating the body and lifting one's spirits.
For centuries it has attracted the cream of european artists and writers looking for inspiration. Villa Lenicciola is on the top of the hill called Collina del Castiglione, a small peninsula, covered in vegetation, that juts out with steep slopes leading down the blue sea. Its position is extremely panoramic, and from here you can look round the whole of the Gulf of Naples, from the castle on Ischia to the island of Procida all the way round to Pozzuoli and the sea-front at Naples.
It was once the residence of a noble english family and still has some of their coats-of-arms and part of the furnishings.
The current owners have enhanced the beauty of the garden around it, creating large living-spaces and furnishing panoramic terraces, on one of which they have built a small swimming-pool for the exclusive use of the villa.
Inside the grounds you will notice an ancient thermal spring in a hole in the rock and a healthy steam vapour still comes up even today. On the other side, towards the village, there is a tennis-court for use during the day.
The furnishings consist of some antique pieces, mostly in the large living-room and in the master bedroom. In the other rooms the furnishings are more modern and still of excellent quality.
It is equipped with: dishwasher, washing-machine, telephone, barbecue, TV and stereo with CD player, and in the price they have included a daily cleaning service and preparation of breakfast and the evening meal, 5 days a week. On leaving the property you come on foot to the thermal springs at Castiglione with several pools with thermal waters, natural saunas and hydromassages. Further on, but within easy reach, is the famous english beach. The island of Ischia can be reached from Naples by hydrofoil or ferry in less than an hour. The area around Casamicciola and Lacco Ameno is the most famous of the many thermal spring resorts, and the beauty of the sea and the whole of the coast here is particularly worthy of mention along with the wonderful cuisine offered by the local restaurants.
