Finca Javier
sleeps up to: 16
Set within its own grounds of 30 acres, approached by a palm shaded driveway, in the foothills below Gaucin Finca Javier looks out across an unspoilt valley towards Jimena del la Frontera. On a clear day you can see the foothills of the Atlas Mountains in Africa.
The property is part of a private community of houses, similar to La Almuna with which it is contiguous. The house has recently been renovated and extended significantly from the original farmhouse in the valley and hence lends its name to the Community. It has 8 double bedrooms, (four with ensuite bathroom) two reception rooms and several terraces.
Built in the classical Spanish style of a Cortijo (painted white with green doors and windows, all built around a central courtyard), the constructed area measures approximately 450 sq metres. Most of the property and the bedrooms are on the ground floor and lead onto the courtyard. It has the distinct feeling of a family house, rather than just a property for rent.
The property comes with a gardener, Paco, and a maid, Carolina. It has mains electricity, oil fired central heating and its own fresh water supply. The kitchen is equipped with all the latest ‘gizmos’. There is Sky television (with access to two different programme schedules simultaneously) but no telephone landline (satellite access is being negotiated).
There are extensive formal lawns and gardens, which were planted in 2002; avenues of jacaranda and 100 year-old olive trees, a vineyard, a young but fast-growing Eucalyptus wood, a lake, a 30 ft waterfall and even a (habitable) “Folly” lower down the valley. The stunning views of the grounds and surrounding National Parkland can all be appreciated from the large swimming pool.
