Amsterdam; Jordaan district; near Anne Frank house
sleeps up to: 8
Located in the middle of the famous Jordaan Quarter of the old centre, with its many shops, cafés and restaurants, this pleasant and spacious 3 bedroom apartment is an ideal and cosy place for group and family vacations.
It is just around the corner of the 17th century Noorderkerk church and close to the Anne Frank house, the Westerkerk church and the Central Station (about 10 min. walk). On the square in front of the Noorderkerk church there is a well-known biological open-air food market, every Saturday.
The Jordaan is one of the most desirable residential areas in Amsterdam and is popular with locals as well as with tourists. Known for its art galleries, variety of small shops as well as its many cafés, bars, and restaurants, you can always find something to do just outside your front door. On Saturdays you can join the locals and shop at the weekly farmers market located on the street in front of the apartment. Afterwards have a coffee and apple tart at one of the many cafes facing the Noorderkerk. Then you can take a stroll down one of the beautiful canals for which Amsterdam is so justifiably famous. Best of all, because it is a popular residential area, it rarely becomes too noisy at night .
Situated on the first and second floors of an 18th century building, the apartment is light and airy with large windows in every room. The first floor opens up into a large living area, dining area, and large open kitchen. Behind the kitchen is a laundry room with the refrigerator, washing machine and a dryer. The smaller of the two bathrooms is on this floor and has a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The kitchen, laundry room and both bathrooms are tiled with Italian marble.
The beautiful wood spiral staircase is a focal point and takes you up to the second floor where you will find the three bedrooms. The larger master bedroom has a queen (160cm) bed and two chairs that pull out to make single beds. This room can sleep up to four guests. The smallest of the three bedrooms is perhaps the most romantic with its double (140cm) iron bed and early 20th century vanity. The medium-size bedroom has a king (180cm) bed that can be separated into two single beds. This is the room with the up close and personal view of the 17th century bell gable on the house across the street. Also located on this floor is the larger bathroom with a combination shower/bathtub, double vanity, toilet, and bidet.
The kitchen has all utensils, a dish washer, a micro wave, a convection (regular) oven, a toaster and a coffee machine. Basic foodstuffs such as herbs, salt, sugar etc. are supplied.
The living room has a tv, a video and a dvd/cd player. The dinner table has 6 chairs, 2 extra chairs are available if needed.
All rooms have several windows, creating a light atmosphere throughout the apartment, and in the living room there is a French balcony (= doors that open to the inside).
A phone line is available, which you can also use for a dial-up internet connection (local dial-up number will be supplied).
Smoking is not allowed in the apartment.
