The owners are artists living and teaching in their 'Sintra Garden Studio', a short walk from Casa Buneira, always available to help you enjoy this unique corner of Portugal
The village is set among the foothills of the wooded, boulder-strewn Serra da Sintra. It is an area of castles, palaces, monasteries, quaint old towns including the World Heritage town of Sintra, vineyards, high cliffs, sandy beaches and beautiful, hilly countryside. The resorts of Cascais and Estoril with its modern casino are within 20 minutes drive, and historic Lisbon 40 minutes away, mostly by motorway or by frequent, cheap trains from Cascais. Local Information: The village although mainly peasant populated, contains 4 restaurants, a café/bar in a converted windmill overlooking the Atlantic and another bar in an old water mill, 2 cafés, a simple general store, an artist's studio and a tennis court for hire. There are wonderful walks along the cliffs and among the wooded, boulder-strewn Sintra hills, and ruined castles, monasteries and quaint villages to visit. For the less adventurous swimmer, there are many excellent, protected beaches facing south along the Estoril Coast.
Entertainment: Sunday markets are a feature of the area. Europe's premier wind surfing beach is just 5 kms away. One can gamble at Estoril's casino, shop at Cascais' ultra-modern mall and see English language films in its multi-screen cinema.
