There are no hotels, and only one taverna and one functioning jetty – but there are some very lovely villas in and around Kerasia Bay, and one of the newest is Villa Avlaki. It is a handsome Mediterranean-looking villa, with lower rooms that open on to a long, shaded terrace that overlooks the attractive pool and a classic Corfiot sea-view, framed by olive-clad hillsides, with, as backdrop, the coastal plain of Southern Albania. Steps lead down to the pool terrace, cocooned by olive groves but open to the view.
To one side of this terrace there is a shady outdoor dining area, most conveniently linked to the kitchen and to a wonderful barbecue area. At the other end of the terrace there is a separate and utterly delightful loggia, shaded by olive trees and a gigantic umbrella, just the place to watch the rest of the party at play while indulging yourself in some serious daydreaming.
The rooms are a wonderful example of what it means to have a flair with fabrics and colour – white walls are set off by handsome pieces of furniture and bright artwork, and there is a splash of unexpected but very successful colour in every room.
The villa is situated above Kerasia Bay. You can walk to the beach via a long footpath approx 15/20 mins and on the way back uphill takes somewhat longer. You can always take a pretty drive via the harbour of St.Stephano, and from there to Kerasia itself.
