The picturesque old fishing port of Brixham (5 miles) is well worth a visit and the historic naval town of Dartmouth is less than a mile by ferry. Also just a ferry ride away is Agatha Christie's home, now a much visited NT property. Another highlight of a visit to this region is the medieval town of Totnes, which stages an Elizabethan Day each Tuesday, when the locals clad in period costume and market stalls brim with local produce. The popular Eden Project makes for a fascinating day out, accessible in just over an hour and a half, and there is a pub just 600 yards from the door in which to relax after a busy day sightseeing.
