This charming 19th century farmhouse lies just outside Ménerbes, made famous in Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’, in the heart of the Luberon National Park. Villa Marengo is set on different levels and has been decorated with a delightful combination of classic and country antiques, natural and colorful fabrics, which combined with exposed stonework, beamed ceilings and antique terracotta floors creates an enchanting home. The grounds have several areas to enjoy sun or shade and are surrounded by 6 acres of secluded hillside woodland. There are a wealth of things to see and do nearby. Loose yourself in the antiques market at Isle-sur-la-Sorgue . Explore the narrow streets of ancient villages. Walk, horse ride or cycle through the Luberon. Ground floor: Entrance hall/dining room, feature fireplace and beamed ceilings. Steps down to Living room, original manger, beamed ceiling and open inglenook-style fireplace. (TV and CD Stereo) Provencal kitchen, beamed ceilings. Steps up to courtyard-style terrace with large stone table. First floor: Master bedroom (1.80m), overlooking front garden. Large children's bedroom, 4 single beds (0.90m), mezzanine style window overlooking summer dining room, integral shower room. Double bedroom (1.40m), overlooking swimming pool. Bathroom. Shower room. Guest WC. External staircase to grounds. Open tread, tight spiral staircase leading to: SECOND FLOOR: Twin bedroom (90cm). Unsuitable for young children and elderly. Low wall over staircase. Door is at bottom of stairs, however this encompasses the 1.40 double bedroom. Grounds: Six acres of natural grounds set in the old olive terraces, including a cherry orchard, pine and oak woodland. Olive, fig, pear, plum and almond trees. (Children should be supervised as some terraces are steep). Lovely small lawn to the front of the property. Kitchen terrace partially enclosed on the sides to give courtyard feeling, with barbeque. Pool is on a terrace on a lower level to the house.
