The villa is built into the hillside and is surrounded with large terraces, leading to a swimming pool carved out of the rock itself. Like the house, the terraces are on two levels, and are imaginatively furnished – there is a ‘Moroccan’ terrace, while another has comfortable sofas and an Indian bed – all providing magical settings from which to gaze at the gorgeous sea views. The villa has recently been refurbished to a high standard of modern comfort, including a new kitchen, but it will prove difficult to stay inside when the outdoor areas are so alluring. Casa Torrida is above a rocky beach, part of a nature reserve, and although it is only 7 minutes walk down to the sea, it must be said that the climb back is steep, and it may be preferable to go down by car. A small family resort is 7km away, where there is a pleasant sandy beach as well as shops, beach bars and restaurants. This is truly a house for anyone wishing to live, if only for a week or two, ‘away from it all’.
