Tucked away on the hillside in one of the most breathtaking parts of the coast near Marbella, Casa El Rondita is an imposing, classical Andalucian villa offering exceptional accommodation and complete seclusion. Many celebrities have stayed here, seeking a break from their hectic pace of life.
Accommodation:
The villa is built around a lovely terracotta tiled courtyard, in the centre of which is a beautiful fountain. Doors from here lead to the well equipped kitchen, with arched windows overlooking the courtyard, which has gas and electric hob, oven, microwave, American fridge, freezer and dishwasher. There is a separate laundry room with a washing machine and dryer. The dining room and upstairs salon occupy the heart of the villa.
This is a very sociable area and between the two rooms, a wrought iron spiral staircase winds down to the grand salon, which has a spectacular vaulted ceiling reaching the full height of the building. Sofas surround the open stone fireplace and there is satellite television and video, a CD player and a grand piano.
All seven large bedrooms have en suite facilities and are decorated in different themes and schemes. The Master suite has a king size, canopied four-poster bed and a superb bathroom en suite, as well as a spacious dressing area. The second principal bedroom, which has wonderful views through large arched windows, also has a four-poster bed, softly draped in delicate white fabrics, and a bathroom en suite. A twin bedroom with a bathroom en suite completes the bedrooms in the main part of the house. The other bedrooms are located in self-contained suites. Three of them, two doubles and one twin, are accessed via the extensive terrace and balcony areas, while the fourth, the tower room, is accessed via the central courtyard.
The architectural scale of this property is immense and the many archways and columns in the rooms and hallways have been beautifully complemented by different styles of interior design. There are many pictures, sculptures and objets d’art, collected by the owner over many years, all of which have a history and a story behind them: carved wooden doors from old palaces in Granada, Jacobean chairs found in the flea market and apparently of no importance, but later discovered to be a rare historical acquisition. All of this combines to create a unique atmosphere of Spanish splendour along with relaxed very comfortable living.
At the foot of the property lies the beautiful swimming pool, measuring 11 x 5m, which is surrounded by orange, lemon and olive trees. From here there are dramatic views of the hills and mountains that surround the property. Around the pool are plenty of sun loungers on which to relax and while away the day watching the ever-changing landscaped as the sun moves silently overhead. The grounds are extensive and retain their natural charm, providing lovely summer dining areas, glorious sunbathing spots and perfect shady sanctuaries in which to absorb and enjoy this wonderful environment.
N.B. Because of the spiral staircase, this property may not be suitable for young children.
