There are excellent restaurants and two five-star hotels, not to mention colourful pubs and quaint little shops. Killarney lies in the opposite direction and has much to lure the visitor. Fishing hiking and horse riding is available in the area. Beyond Kenmare and over the metal bridge, lies the road to the Beara Peninsula.
You can go sailing, canoeing or hill walking at Star Sailing in Dawros (4 miles from Kenmare on the Castletownbere road) Hire bikes from Finnegan’s Bike Shop, book golf lessons with the Adrian Whitehead Golf Academy in the Ring of Kerry Golf Club,
go swimming in the new leisure centre at the Kenmare Bay Hotel,
walk the Heritage trail in Kenmare town or strole the beach in Derrynane. Visit Kennedy’s Pet farm in Killarney or stay home and watch TV in the event that there is a rainy day!
