Selimiye Village is 40 km. south of Marmaris and is a 2-hour drive from the Dalaman Int. Airport. The buses to Bozburun can be a ode of transportation as well as taxi and minibus services from Marmaris. For anyone looking for real privacy in wonderful rural surroundings Villa Loryma is the place set amongst trees on the hillside halfway up the path to the old village. Time seems to stand still in this idyllic Mediterrenean hideaway...the Loryma peninsula is a delight. It is a very mountainous arm of the land jutting out into the sea from Marmaris. The coastline is heavily indented and scattered with a host of tiny offshore islands, most topped by their own bit of ruin. In the village of Selimiye, a mosque sits at the water’s edge, and houses and fields fringe a perfect, almost land locked bay, with its own tiny islet topped with the obligatory ruin in water (which often seems to be almost navy blue).
The village is one of the most relaxed and friendly spots in a country renowned for its friendliness. Traditionally, the locals have made their living from fishing, farming and boat building, and these activities still govern the rhythm of life in the village.
Climb the steep path by the carpenter’s shop up to the hill passing the Villa Loryma to the oldest part of the village, take a glass of tea, sit back and watch the pattern of rural life unfold around you.
Down by the water the village seems to slumber in the day time, with the only flurry of activity caused by the arrival of a boat, or a delivery of fresh vegetables to one of the village shops.
Four of the apartments have one bedroom and will accommodate a couple or a small family, whilst the other two are much larger with one master bedroom and adjacent bedrooms sleeping four to six people comfortably.
The apartments all have charming individual features such as exposed beams and stonework, open fireplaces and large private terraces for sitting out. Each unit has its own kitchen facilities such as refrigerator, gas & electric oven and plenty amounts of tableware. All of the units have air condition and large terrace with a pergola for serving breakfast and for sun decking in privacy. The nearest shops and restaurants are 5 minutes walk down the hill, as is swimming from the jetties in the village.
