Very comfortable house with swimming pool in peaceful rural location mid way between Toulouse and Carcassonne. Set on a small hill the house has fantastic views to the Pyrenees.
The grounds include two windmills (not working!) and a small area of woodland as well as sloping lawns, terraces and fruit trees. The swimming pool and adjacent open barn provide the finest possible outdoor environment.
The owner would hope you find Maison Sophia extremely comfortable. It has recently been restored, rewired and redecorated throughout.
The toilets are new, the bath is large enough for a six-footer and the showers provide ample hot water at a reasonable pressure. All the beds are new and come from England - no tiny divans or thin mattresses.
Above all the house is a family home with light and airy welcoming rooms furnished to the highest standards.
Ground Floor · Entrance Hall. WC - and washbasin. · Kitchen - with fitted pine units and work surfaces, gas hobs and oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave etc. French doors to south facing terrace. Circular breakfast table and chairs on terrace. Door to boiler room fitted with washing machine and tumble dryer.
·Dining room - Dining table seating up to 10. Desk with Telephone/fax machine.
·Drawing Room - This is a large bright room with huge fireplace at far end. The French windows to north and south side provide fantastic views. Comfortably furnished with sofas and chairs and a card table and chairs. Satellite television and video. There are also board games, counters, books and videos.
·Master bedroom - with double bed, (can be separated into two singles), French windows leading onto terrace and en suite showeroom, with shower, basin and WC. There is ample hanging and storage space in this room. There is also a sofa bed. Being at the far end of the house this bedroom offers complete seclusion and privacy.
First Floor : All the south facing bedrooms have stunning views to the Pyrenees (the north facing room does not do too badly for views either). They all have hanging cupboards, bedside tables and lamps, chests of drawers etc.
·Bedroom 2 (south facing) - double bed, wash basin.
·Bedroom 3 (south facing) - twin bedded room.
·Bedroom 4 (south facing) - twin bedded room.
·Bedroom 5 (north facing) - smallest room with 2 beds.
·Bathroom - with large bath and shower fitment, WC, basin and shaving point.
·Shower room - with shower cabinet, WC, basin and shaving point.
Outside : Next to the pool and overlooking it is a magnificent open barn with tiled roof. This makes the perfect summer room, with unusual chairs to relax in as you take in the stunning views. Or pass the time with a game of Giant Chess or Jenga. There is even a darts board.
The large dining table and comfortable cane chairs and a gas barbecue make this the most ideal place for summer entertaining in an unforgettable location.
Next to the Hangar is a games room with a ¾ size table tennis table and a mini pool table. The croquet set and boules are kept here and the sloping lawns provide a challenging surface for either game.
However for those seeking peace and quiet there are plenty of places to take a hammock or lounger - choose from the small wood or choose one of the shady fig tree or relax beside the two windmills, shortly to be converted into further accommodation.
Facilities : The Telephone and fax are available for local and international calls invoiced at cost. You can also connect to the internet.
Bed linen, towels, sun beds, etc are included in the price, as is maintenance for the pool and gardens, and a maid who will clean weekly.
