Offering 3miles of sandy beaches, the historic seaport of Whitby - with its picturesque harbour and cobbled streets - is well worth a visit, and the North York Moors Steam Railway from Grosmont to Pickering takes a scenic route over the moors. The coastal villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Sandsend all lie within 23miles.
