The flat is on the second floor (no lift) of a fine Victorian building in a lovely London square. It overlooks the garden square, to which as a resident - albeit a temporary one - you have access (including the use of the tennis court - bring your own racquets!) and it faces SE so you get the sun from morning to mid afternoon.
Many who live in SW1 firmly declare that they would never dream of living elsewhere! The area includes smart Belgravia, trendy Pimlico (where the flat is), and stately Westminster - the seat of Government, as well as Buckingham Palace, and the lovely Green Park and St. James's Park.
The apartment is no more than 5 minutes walk from Victoria Station, a major travel hub with train, tube and bus stations, very convenient for journeys around London and trips out of town. Buckingham Palace and Green Park are just a 10 minutes walk.
The flat sleeps 3 people in one double (which can be split into 2 singles making a twin) and one single bedroom. There are two bathrooms.
The flat is decorated and furnished throughout in relaxed, traditional English style. The drawing room (16ft9 x 13ft9, 5.1m x 4.2m) has 2 two seater sofas, 2 armchairs, a long foot stool, small letter desk, side tables and lamps etc, with original paintings and sporting prints on the walls. There's a TV and stereo system with a small collection of CDs ranging from Elton John to grand opera. The separate adjoining dining room is small but will comfortably seat 6. Next door the modern kitchen has all the expected appliances including microwave and dishwasher.
The larger of the two bedrooms has two 3ft beds which are normally "zip-and linked" to give a large double, they can however also be split to produce two singles. This bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom (shower, basin and loo + washing machine). The single bedroom has a 3ft bed (small but very comfortable!). There's a second bathroom (though not en-suite) with bath + over-shower, basin and loo.
The flat is within 5 minutes walk of several convenience stores, pharmacies and an excellent supermarket. There's a good variety of pubs, cafés and restaurants close by. Try Oliveta in Elizabeth Street or, a block away and slightly more expensive, its sister restaurant Olivo. At Gran Paradiso on Wilton Road you might well spot an MP dining before returning to the House of Commons to vote.
