Everything you could wish for in a large, French, solid-looking manor house, plus more! Manoir de Brevert (the main house) is available to rent on its own, (sleeping 10) with extra beds possible for children, or as a complete complex along with the cottage and the Luxury Studio. Altogether you could host a big gathering here for twenty people in style. This is an amazing house, utterly Gallic in character, with a gorgeous garden and an outdoor hotspa. It is very reasonably priced and only a short hop away across the Channel. The cottage and The Luxury Studio stand within the six acres of walled grounds. Each house has its own private two-acre garden, sun terrace, barbecue and outdoor seating. Location: 10 minutes south of Caen. You approach through electric gates, up a long tree-lined drive to the main wrought iron gates. Manoir de Brevert is ideally placed for visiting the famous Normandy beaches and historical Falaise, and there are no end of things for children to do in the area, including fabulous beaches, aquariums etc. Bayeux is 30 minutes, Deauville 30 minutes, Paris just over two hours. You are ideally placed for house-hunting, and the owners can offer advice on English-speaking agents and surveyors, ferry services etc. The Manoir is decorated with original polished and limestone floors, chandeliers, English and French antiques and Fine Art. It has five double bedrooms, all with TVs, DVDs and English satellite. The atmosphere is elegant but relaxed, a happy marriage of traditional French with contemporary fixtures and fittings. There are four bathrooms (new in 2005), a cloakroom and a library. Communal guest rooms include a Grand Salon, a dining/family room (the latter two each with an open fire) and a newly fitted kitchen. Le cottage is newly renovated, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each room is spacious with new floors. The sun shines into the kitchen with its new granite, wood and stainless steel units, and double doors open from here onto a terrace. A new, white bathroom has views over the back garden. The living room looks over the grounds up to the Manoir, and has a flat screen TV and DVD (free access to the library of 400 films). Stairs lead up to a large double bedroom with an antique brass bed. In a separate annexe (two steps from the kitchen door) there’s a new double-bedded room (again with TV and DVD) with a beautiful ensuite bathroom. The Luxury Studio is also newly renovated, its first floor kitchen particularly magnificent with wood stripped floors and high vaulted ceilings. It has all the mod cons and facilities of the cottage. There's a luxurious double bedroom with an additional single bed and a fabulous ensuite bathroom on the ground floor, while upstairs the living room can double as a bedroom, either for two adults or four children. Facilities: The library has a 42 inch flat screen plasma TV with English satellite. The grounds include a fully stocked vegetable garden, (a full time gardener brings produce straight to the table), an orchard and an ornamental fish pond. Children love the Manoir. There are toys provided, a Play station 2 and bicycles, and they can cycle through the countryside, free from traffic, down to the local village to buy ice creams. Babysitting is available at no extra charge (unfortunately not available during July and August). There is a separate laundry room, convenient for all three properties, with two washing machines and two driers. Please note: the Manoir dining room table seats a maximum of 14. There are obviously separate tables in the two smaller properties.
