Located in East Tyrol near the Italian border, Chalet Elena is a charming two-story
traditional chalet that offers beautiful views in all directions. The chalet is situated at
1300 meters in the Defereggen Valley in the National Park "Hohe Tauern." The famous ski
area of St. Jakob, situated at over 2000 meters, guarantees snow throughout the season
and into April. It is East Tyrol’s best known ski town and can be easily reached on good
roads (a three-hour drive from Munich). The slopes allow runs almost up to the house,
and no car is needed to go skiing. Long, well-groomed cross-country tracks are available,
and horse-drawn carriage/sled rides are a big attraction. During the summer, the valley is
a beautiful hiking area. Near Lienz (30 minutes away) you can spend hot summer days at
beautiful Lake Tristach (Tristacher See), surrounded by forest. You will find excellent
gourmet food in nearby restaurants.
All of the chalet's rooms are comfortably
furnished with original country antiques. The chalet includes four bedrooms (each with its
own sink with hot and cold water), a new bathroom (luxury shower stall with all-around
shower as well as a tub, sink, and washing machine), a separate vanity room/toilet, living
room, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher). There are two extra
mattresses available for additional guests and a sofabed for smaller children. A baby bed
and a high chair are also available at no extra charge. For children, there is a sandpit in
the garden; a playground is nearby.
One-week minimum stay during high
season, three days during low season. Additional charges for tourist tax, linens and towels
(if needed), and final cleaning. All utility costs included except heating. The chalet's
friendly caretaker will be available for any questions during your stay.
