The owners of this property, a successful writer and her husband, have had it completely re-built a few years ago.
They loved their old house and wanted it in the same style as before. The result is a splendid large Victorian-style family house with 21st century technology: underfloor heating, smart modern bathrooms, low voltage halogen lighting throughout and broadband internet connection in every room (bring your own laptop).
The house comfortably sleeps 8 adults in 3 double bedrooms and 2 singles, with 3 bathrooms. A further 2 children / young adults can be accommodated on foldaway beds in 2 of the double rooms. There is off-street car parking for 2 cars at the front of the house.
The accommodation, furnished in an informal "comfortable English" style, is on 3 floors.
On the ground floor the hall opens onto a huge (23ft x 13ft9, 7m x 4.2m) formal reception room, which is the family music room. There are easy chairs, a working coal-effect gas fire and a good piano. If the dining table is moved through the double doors from the kitchen/dining area next door the room also makes an excellent formal dining room.
The kitchen/dining area (20ft x 17ft6, 6.1m x 5.30m) has a smart modern kitchen (twin electric ovens, gas stovetop, granite work top, dishwasher, etc. etc.. There's no microwave but there is an ice making machine. The dining area has an antique dining table + 8 chairs. This gives out onto a paved patio with garden furniture and a good-sized attractive garden - a real plus if you have children.
There's also a downstairs WC/cloakroom on this floor.
On the first floor is the drawing room and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The drawing room ( 19ft9 x 15ft9, 6m x 4.8m) is designed as a comfortable family room. There's a 3 seater sofa and an arm chair - when these places are taken the remaining members of the family can just spread out on the carpet!
As might be expected in the home of a writer one entire wall is given over to bookshelves and books. To complete the room there's a TV (digital channels, VCR and DVD), stereo and working coal-effect gas fire (very cosy in winter).
The attractive master bedroom (15ft6 x 13ft, 4.7m x 4m) has a 4ft6 bed. The large French windows open onto a balcony which overlooks the garden. The high quality marble ensuite bathroom has bath with power shower, twin washbasins and a WC.
On the top floor there are a further 4 bedrooms: 2 doubles, one of which overlooks the garden and two singles. Two foldaway beds suitable for children /young adults are available for each of the top floor doubles. There are another two marble bathrooms, one with shower, basin and WC, the other with bath (with hand shower), basin and WC. The laundry facilities (washer and separate dryer) are on this floor.
The house is very close to Westbourne Road and Queensway, in a great position to experience one of the most cosmopolitan parts of London, famed for its huge variety of restaurants of every sort serving cuisine from literally all over the world. You are also just 10 minutes walk from Notting Hill Gate and Portobello Road with its world-famous Saturday market.
Your nearest tube, 2 minutes walk, is Royal Oak (Hammersmith and City Lines); Bayswater (Circle and District Lines) and Queensway (Central Line) are within 10 minutes.
