Caernarfon is a charming
historical town set within castle walls; it has a pretty harbor, museums, antique shops and
good bars and restaurants. In North Wales, Welsh can be heard spoken as a first
language,
and many historic castles can be visited, including Caernarfon, Conwy and
Beaumaris. Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula offer sandy beaches and coves, while
wonderful walks abound in Snowdonia. Mount Snowdon can be tackled on foot
or via the famous rack and pinion railway. Llandudno offers all the attractions of a seaside
resort, including a pier and sandy beach. Picturesque villages close by include Beddgelert,
Betws-y-Coed and Llanberis, a unique village full of pubs, restaurants and shops,
popular
as the gateway to Snowdon.
