Nestling in the ‘old part’ of a traditional Cretan village (famous for the scenes in Zorba the Greek) lies Ellanka HOUSE. A 300 years old, traditionally built house which has been lovingly renovated and restored by its English Owners for the last two years. Ellanka HOUSE has two very large bedrooms bedrooms (One Double Bedded Room and One with a Double Bed and a Single Bed) all well furnished and equipped with plenty of storage. Both Bedrooms have wonderful views to the White Mountains and to the Bay of Souda.
The Village has two, lovely Tavernas, three Bar / Cafes and a couple of Mini Markets for your local shopping. The nearby sea side resort of Almirida Bay is only 2 kms away.
Enter the house through the front door to find:
Accommodation: On the Ground Floor there is a very large, airy, Living and Dining Area. The Living Area is comfortably furnished in a both traditional and modern comfort style. There is a bed settee for the additional sleeping of 2 persons. The Living Area has a large size TV / DVD and CD player. In the corner of the Living Area is a wood burning stove for those ‘chilly‘nights which we can have at the start and the end of the Season. From the Living Area is the large, spacious Kitchen with large Dining Table.
The Kitchen has been totally modernised and has a wealth of electrical appliances, microwave, full sized cooker and a washing machine. Dining Table to seat 6 persons. From the Living Area there is a side door which leads to the original well which was once used for drawing water for this part of the Village.
Up the wooden staircase to the newly tiled First Floor Terrace area which is an ideal spot to watch the sun go down across the Bay of Souda. There is an outside Table and Chair set on this terrace.
On the First Floor are the two bedrooms.
Bedroom 1. A very large, airy room with a Double Bed and a Single Bedroom (an ideal Family Room)
Bedroom 2. Large and spacious with views to the Village and Mountains (Double Bed)
The large and spacious Bathroom (Bath/ Shower/ WC and Hand Wash Basin) is on the Ground Floor and so, ideal, for those using the Swimming Pool and Garden areas outside.
Outside: Across the small parking area to the front of the house, there is the large, side Garden with attractive stone walling, private Swimming Pool (8 metres x 4 metres) and a host of Sun Beds, Tables, Chairs and Umbrellas. This area is fenced from the small road for maximum privacy of our Guests.
Although Car Hire is not necessary for this property, we always suggest that the Clients have the benefit of a hired car otherwise; they will miss out on the wonderful beaches, Mountain Ranges and Villages which surround this part of Western Crete. The ancient City of Chania (once the Island Capital) is only 20 kms away and well worth a visit over one or two days. Market day in Chania is a Saturday.

We offer a free Maid Service for the weekly change of Bed Linen and Towels.
All services and the use of air conditioning and other equipment (as advertised) is included in the weekly rental rates.
