The classic villa of the Villa Bellevue period stands on the border of the beaches of Royan and has breathtaking views of the sea and is one of the oldest houses in the town, which has been completely rebuilt after the war. With an impressive tower, balcony and terraces overlooking the whole corniche, it is situated in the best position in this well known seaside resort town. There are miles of sandy beaches along the ocean going up to the Ile d'Oléron famous for its oysters and sea food. The large old town of Saintes offers summer classical music festivals in July with a good reputation which attracts people from overseas.
