This beautiful 19th century 'bastide' is located just outside Vaison-la-Romaine (1km), a busy ancient town with a well-preserved Roman theatre. Vaison has all shopping facilities, a good selection of cafés and restaurants as well as tennis courts and bicycle hire. The area offers breathtaking scenery of the nearby Mont Ventoux mountain range and the Dentelles de Montmirail, and there are many lovely hilltop villages well worth exploring.
Surrounding the house are 2.5 acres of vineyards and woods, flowering gardens and lawns. The setting is idyllic, and the swimming pool is positioned away from the house among olive and pine trees. There is a pool house with a fridge and a sink. A shady terrace to the side of the house is ideal for outdoor dining. The owners live next door but their house cannot be seen from the front of the house or the pool.
The house is well appointed with spacious living and sleeping quarters, and is furnished in a mixture of styles. A majestic hallway with an imposing central staircase leads to a spacious and very bright living room on one side, and to a large kitchen on the other, with a dining table and giving onto a covered terrace.
Also on the ground floor are a small sitting room with a double sofabed, a shower unit in one corner and a separate wc.
On the first floor there are five double bedrooms (one with an additional single bed), a small room with a double sofabed, a shower room with a wc, a bathroom and a separate wc.
