This three-storey apartment was built in 1698 and is a very rare survival of Old London.
It has wood-panelled walls, working window-shutters, a pretty staircase, and it is appropriately furnished. It is extremly central and within walking distance of the British Museum and London University, and Covent Garden, theatres, shops and restaurants are all within easy reach. The area is central but surprisingly quiet and there is a childrens' garden/playground nearby.
This is a family home, available to rent at reasonable rates, and it is suitable for visitors who would enjoy the experience of living in an ancient building in an historic part of central London. And by living so centrally you will not only save lots of money on public transport but precious time as well!
Bloomsbury is right in the centre of London - the nearerst Tube station is Holborn. It is a pretty area with many 18th and 19th century buildings and squares. It is possible to walk to many of the major sights such as Saint Paul's Cathedral, Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square, 'theatreland' is within easy reach and The British Museum is a 6 minute stroll away. The immediate area is full of interesting restaurants. It is also convenient for Waterloo - why not take a day trip to Paris by train - the Eurostar?

The flat is in an area known as Bloomsbury which for centuries has been much favoured by writers and artists. Charles Dickens wrote David Copperfield when he was living just round the corner, The Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood was founded nearby and the celebrated 'Bloomsbury Group' (which included Virginia Woolf) also lived in the area. Now there is an interesting mixture of old and new, commercial and residential, and the area has the benefit of being both in the heart of London and also relatively quiet. The nearest underground stations are Holborn and Russell Square, both five minutes walk away.
